IE7 has exactly the same price as Firefox, Safari, and Opera. $0. 2. Microsoft has already distributed XP autoupdates to deal with the change in DST. There's also a download for people who turned off autoupdate. The statement that their solution is to upgrade to Vista is simply false. That's even what the story says. Microsoft did the same thing as Apple: Distribute patches for supported versions of their operating system, but the patches only work if you allow your OS to be patched. That doesn't include the cost of the virus software and adware software you have to have if you use it because it's such a mess, and no, the stuff Microsoft provides isn't good enough. Every time I get a Microsoft upgrade I have to run my adware program because they add a tracking cookie to my computer. Microsoft's solution for the time shift is for people to upgrade to Vista, which requires hardware upgrades that most people don't want or need.
